Chairman of Board of Management

Dear Friends:

Welcome to CombermereSchool.com!
It gives me great pleasure to be involved with our old school at the macro level, because as most of you might know, I have never truly left, having been actively involved with Old Scholars hockey for the past twenty-something years.

Like you I am very proud of my association with our alma mater. I have been fortunate enough to witness the progressive strides that the school has made since my time, continually producing sound well-rounded citizens of Barbados. We have only to look at genuine examples of excellence in students like Je-Meila Maloney, who this year was selected by the United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) to represent the entire Latin American and Caribbean region at the J8 Junior Summit in Chitose City, Japan, to be fully appreciative of the awe inspiring institution that is Combermere and its ability to continually churn out great people.

The School's Board is challenged by the demands of the modern student and the truly complex information age in which we live. If we are to prepare our students to compete on the global stage, then we need to foster an environment that reflects the complexities and dynamism of today's economic, social and political landscape.

We are therefore always challenged to ensure that our curriculum and extra-curricular choices are current, relevant and engaging. The school is blessed with some of the finest teachers and staff led by a firm Principal, with a clear purpose and mission. The Board fully supports the teaching body. We have agreed on a number of developmental plans for the school some of which, among other things, will upgrade our campus, enhance our sporting programme and bring new technologies into the classrooms.

Our students will continually be among the best equipped on the island. The school has one of the highest demand for entry on the island. This will not now only be because of our enviable track record for support of each other in business, but parents will also have the satisfaction that their children will be attending one of the best outfitted and stimulating environments possible on the island.

We need all Combermerians to rally behind the vision. Continue being bold, continue being excellent, but most of all, continue being a Combermerian.

Up and on Combermerians!
